The seventh release from independent publishing imprint, Standards Manual, Parks is a collection of over 300 maps, brochures, and printed ephemera from the United States National Park Service.
The materials come from photographer, Brian Kelley, who has been a long-time collaborator of the imprint, publishing Objects→ together in 2017.
Part of an ongoing project→, Kelley collects oft-overlooked objects within the Park Service. The book showcases nearly a century of art, cartography, and printed materials in a compelling visual history of America’s national parks and evolving graphic design styles culminating in Massimo Vignelli’s iconic design system, the Unigrid.
The book is sequenced chronologically, beginning in 1916 and culminating in 2002.
Each specimen is listed chronologically and organized in the book’s index, allowing for a snapshot of the collection.
