Nestled in the mountains of Colorado, Salt Lick on Salt Creek is home to one of the highest elevation lavender farms in the world.
Each summer, the farm opens itself up to a small group of visitors, who are encouraged to witness the beauty and bounty of the field through special events, local foods, and farm-grown products.
Order was tasked with developing the identity for the farm and its product line, drawing on the rich history of Colorado and the eclectic sensibilities of the farm’s owner and curator, Beth Boettcher Finke.

Situated southwest of Vail Valley, Salt Lick on Salt Creek embraces the contrasts of the Western landscape.
Guests are treated to a rugged luxury experience — champagne chilled in a tin trough, three-course meals enjoyed picnic-style, and dessert served on miss-matched china.
Salt Lick on Salt Creek is not only a working farm, but home to its owner, Beth Boettcher Finke, and her family.
The identity is inspired by Beth’s rich and varied collections.
Frames are both a literal representation of these collections, and an analogy for Beth’s unique curatorial eye.
The designs echo a specific era of American visual culture that — like Beth — celebrates utility, craft, and ornamentation.

Order digitized over 50 borders to use across print and digital applications. Above is a small sample.

Medium by Lineto→ and Caslon Ionic by Commercial Type→ are used in combination throughout the system.
The palette is inspired by the natural colors found on the farm and its menu.
Like the borders, each color is intended to be used equally across the identity.
When applicable, combinations are carefully selected to helps illustrate the flavors, scents, and textures of a particular product.
Black-and-white photography provides a glimpse into the beauty of the farm, while keeping the full experience a surprise for guests.
