Sourdough Disco is a new bread baking project by Erin Wahed. Part test kitchen, part dance floor, and all disco. Loaves are lovingly made in small batches in the East Village using high quality ingredients in unexpected combinations.
The rich visual history of disco album covers inspired the vibrant color palette.
Order designed an illustrative identity that blends 1970’s patterns and the scores Erin makes into the loaves of bread.
Cheee is a variable typeface by OH no Type Company→. Cheee took inspiration from psychedelic typefaces of the 1970s. It’s variable axes are labeled Yeast and Gravity, based on the gooey terminals and cavities.
Erin’s baking practice results in a large variety of flavors, each named after an iconic disco club. She often releases limited edition flavors through social media.
For Erin, disco music became the soundtrack to her quarantine. Her Friday Disco Playlist can be found on Spotify→.
